We are now looking for a Café Manager to lead the café team. We expect our new Café Manager to be as passionate about Velocity’s values as we are. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic team player, who can use their own initiative and fresh ideas to develop this arm of the business. Excellent communication skills are essential, as is the ability to deliver excellent customer service.

Role Title: Café Manager
Role Purpose: The Café Manager's role is to provide leadership for the café team within the organisation. This role has overall responsibility for managing all aspects of the café and team of café staff within this vibrant city centre social enterprise.
Organisation: Velocity Café and Bicycle Workshop is a social enterprise and a company limited by guarantee. The Café Manager reports to the General Manager and has direct line management responsibility for the café staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:
People – Be the friendly, open and welcoming face of the Velocity Café. Advocate Velocity's ethos and values; building these in self and the team to create a vibrant working environment where the café team feel inspired and motivated in their work, thereby creating an excellent experience for all customers.
Conducting café staff appraisals, creating and delivering staff training and coordinating annual leave. Recruiting and inducting new café staff.
Communication – working and communicating closely and openly with other Velocity managers and staff to ensure the café works productively with other areas of the organisation.
Managing supply agreements with local business that work towards the café using locally produced, seasonal produce.
Liaising with the General Manager to ensure targets are achieved/ exceeded.
Café Operations – Supervision of the café staff team and maintaining adequate café staffing levels.
Day to day; opening and closing up, preparing food, serving customers, ordering stock and managing supply orders. Ensuring food hygiene practices are being adhered to and recorded.
Business Development - Working closely with and assisting the General Manager in ongoing development of the café arm of the business.
Marketing – Leading the marketing strategy for the café, working with other staff to ensure aligned messages of outward communication.
Events - coordinating use of the café space, liaising with event organisers, event promotion in line with the Velocity Marketing Strategy
Finances - Budgeting and managing the efficient use of café resources. Day to day financial processes including cashing up and banking. Financial reporting to the Velocity bookkeeper and General Manager.

Experience in managing a passionate and diverse team of people
Recent experience in hospitality and customer relationship management.
Candidates would be expected to be motivated, team players who can use their own initiative, bringing with them ideas and enthusiasm whilst delivering excellent customer service.
Hours- Full time, Flexible Working hours
Wage - Living wage plus 20% / hour
Holiday entitlement - 5.6 weeks holiday a year
