We’re Growing! Want to work for us? - MECHANIC & YOUTH WORKER MECHANIC

We’re looking for a skilled Bicycle Mechanic and Youth Worker who is passionate about all things cycling related and that has previous experience of supporting people suffering from mental health issues, low self confidence or social anxiety, to join our Workshop and Project teams in a dual role. We would also welcome applicants for just one part of the role to potentially create a job share, so if either or both take your fancy then read on...

Workshop Youth Worker Mechanic (Teaching Specialist on Bike Academy Programme) - 2 days a week

Our Bike Academy project works with secondary school children identified by their school as benefitting from employability skills and practical mechanics in a small group setting as part of an SQA award. With your support and assistance, they will strip a bike and rebuild it over 6 weekly sessions and develop increased self-confidence, problem-solving and communication skills.

Workshop Mechanic (Senior) - 3 days a week

In the workshop, we need someone with sharp skills to help meet the demands of our growing public business and wider bike servicing commitments with external clients. We do things a little differently here at Velocity, so whether you’re providing 1-to-1 support to those wanting private mechanic tuition, refurbishing a donated bike for resale, or repairing bikes for customers like a regular bike shop, no two days are quite the same.

For comprehensive job descriptions and a list of what we’re looking for in the right person, please view the online documents here.

The family at Velocity are proud to operate as a social enterprise, with money generated through our cafe and workshop going to support our ongoing work to support the health and well-being of the people of Inverness and the surrounding area through cycling. We have exciting plans for the future of the organisation and can offer a great range of staff benefits for those joining us.

Start date: Flexible

Closing date for applications is 9am on Friday 20 July. Interviews will take place between 26-28 July.

To apply, please send a cover letter detailing why you feel you are a strong fit for the role(s) and a copy of your CV to dave@velocitylove.co.uk.

NB: Due to the nature of both jobs you will need to hold a valid driving licence and these jobs are subject to PVG enhanced disclosure checks.
