Duncan giving mechanical advice at a Highland Council office

Duncan and Penny head up the work we're doing with employers in Inverness. As part of the Go ByCycle project we are offering workplaces free sessions covering everything from bike mechanics to safer routes to get more staff using their bikes to get to work,.

We believe that bicycles can bring joy to everyone, not just the youngsters. Riding a bicycle has myriad benefits both to physical and mental health; it increases fitness, reduces stress, helps you lose weight and gives you a fresh perspective on the world around you (its also much cheaper than driving a car or taking the bus to and from work!).  That's why we're working with adults to get them feeling that they have the confidence and skills to make their daily commute by bicycle.

Our suite of services include basic bike maintenance courses, Fix Your Own drop-in sessions, safer routes to work consultations and promoting social rides after work. We work alongside employees in initial consultations to understand their needs and adjust what we deliver to suit.

So far we have worked with staff at Raigmore hospital and Scottish Natural Heritage and will be working with Visit Scotland and Life Scan in the coming months.
