Food waste & composting
Food Waste Recycling
Velocity Café & Bicycle Workshop is working in partnership with the Highland Council to help encourage households to use the food waste recycling in Inverness. Unfortunately, over one third of waste found in our refuse bins in the Highlands is food waste. Recycling food waste significantly reduces the impact on climate change as food waste going to landfill produces methane which is more harmful to the environment than carbon monoxide.
Velocity is worked in partnership with the Highland Council to carry out door knocking, a food waste and composting survey and community engagement events.
do you use the service?
All households in Inverness City, Culloden, Smithton, Balloch and Milton of Leys are eligible for FREE food waste recycling!
