Come along to our Climate Café in Inverness - a space for people to get together to talk and act on climate change!
THURSDAY 30TH MAY THEME: Heat Action Day
Heat Action Day is on the 2nd of June 2024. It is a global day for raising awareness of heat risks and sharing simple ways to beat the heat. This Climate Café will be an opportunity to learn more about the risk of extreme heat and talk about ways to protect yourself and others.
Harper Loonsk from Highland Adapts and Katie Andrews from British Red Cross will provide a brief introduction to the climate crisis and the risks of heat, both nationally and in a Highland context. Katie will share insights on how the British Red Cross supports people during heatwaves. There will then be a creative session where you will be able to make and design you own hand-held fans to help keep you cool! We will also print the heatwave checklist created by the British Red Cross that you can take away.
A hot/cold non-alcoholic drink of your choice will be served between 6.30 - 7pm. Feel free to bring food and snacks to the event as we are only serving drinks.
What is a Climate Café? A Climate Café is a community-led, informal, inclusive and inspiring space to get together, share ideas, information and get involved in climate action locally.
What is it like to go along to a Climate Café? Climate Cafés are relaxed and informal, so you should be able to just drop in, have a cuppa, and a chat – just like any café! It is a space where everyone gets to contribute and the conversation moves through the topics people are interested in. Expect the chat to be wide ranging, with a positive focus on what we can do!
