Join us for a Sashiko visible mending workshop at the Velocity café!

Come along and learn how to get started with Japanese Sashiko mending. Sashiko is traditionally used to patch and reinforce cloth with decorative patterns.

Artist Claire Macdonald will show you how to mend your denim or adorn any item made of fabric. No Item to bring?  Make a sample that can be made into a pin cushion.   

We will be mending in an open, sociable and informal space where you can have a blether and enjoy visible mending! 

A small range of materials will be available but encourage everyone to bring their own supplies; Sashiko needle/ Sashiko or embroidery thread & your item to mend.

Beginners are welcome. 

A hot drink of your choice will be provided between 6.00-6:30pm.

How the tickets work - Pay What You Can

Tier A - Standard Ticket - £8 - covers cost of hot drink, partial workshop costs & puts small amount to subsidised places.

Tier B - Cost Price Ticket - £6 - covers cost of hot drink and partial workshop costs.

Tier C - Subsidised Ticket - £4 - covers cost of hot drink.

All ticket prices include booking fees.

There are limited spaces for the session so please only book if you are able to attend. This event is supported by funding provided by the Highland Community Waste Partnership.

NB: One requirement of the funding is that we collect feedback from participants about the event. You will be asked to fill out a feedback form at the end of the session.

Photography: We will also take photographs during the session for sharing on social media and reporting purposes. By signing up, you are giving consent to having your photo taken. If you are not comfortable having your photograph taken, please let us know.

Attendance & cancellation policy: Please only book a ticket if you know you are able to attend. If your plans change, you must cancel your ticket and let us know with at least 48 hours notice of the event start time so that others can attend.
